Product Information
The unique design of the Bones SUPER SWISS 6 bearings features six larger-diameter balls instead of the seven balls used in most 608 bearings.
These come in packs of 8 bearings
The advantage of this design is higher speed, faster acceleration, greater strength and durability.
Bones Super Swiss 6-ball bearings (SS6) are fundamentally different from our standard 7-ball Bones Swiss. Super Swiss have 6 balls instead of 7 as you might expect, but the 6 balls are 20% larger in diameter than the balls used in the 7-ball bearing. The reason we use 6 balls instead of 7 of the larger balls is also pretty simple, we can’t fit 7 of the larger balls into the size constraints of the 608 bearing.
The major advantage of larger balls is that at the same wheel RPM, they roll more slowly and create less friction. Additional benefits were discovered through testing: The Super Swiss 6-ball bearing,
- Has a higher top speed (because the balls don’t have to turn so fast)
- Accelerates faster (because the races are thinner and there is one less ball)
- Roll further (because of the reduced friction and ball rotation speed)
- Last longer because the oversize construction is stronger
