Steelers Sign up Colt King for 2012 by Blue Cow Hockey

Sheffield Steelers will be introducing a new powerhouse winger for Steelers next season called Colt King - and with that it looks like it spells the end of Rob Globke’s career in Sheffield.

Steelers Coach Ryan Finnerty has swooped in to sign the 6ft 2in, 220lb on a one year contract.

And, with another import waiting in the wings named Neil Clark seemingly likely to stay on Steelers roster, and player-coach Ryan Finnerty filling the departing Derek Campbell’s role, it looks as if there will be no more room at the inn for Globke.

Former NHL star Rob Globke admitted at the end of last season that, after two concussion injuries, he had been concerned going into some of the games last year. That issue may have played a part in Ryan’s decision to sign the left hand shot Colt King, a player who is no stranger to dropping the gloves during games.

Ryan said of Colt “This guy will be a star and a fan favourite”. “Clubs in North America, Europe and the Elite League were also trying to sign him, as he is a tall strong player who hits, fights and also find the time to put the puck in the back of the net as well

The coach confident in his statement that “He is the perfect Steeler-type player and the fans will love him.”
